The College and Career Bootcamp is designed to offer support to high school seniors as they navigate the process of applying to college or charting their path after high school. The Bootcamp will occur over 10 meetings—scattered throughout the school year (please see the back for dates and topics). Topics covered will include the following: searching for colleges, applying to colleges, getting transcripts, applying for scholarships, completing FAFSA, etc.
The primary website portal that we will use for all of these meetings is the College Planning Steps page on our website: (https://www.citruscollegecoalition.org/college-planning-steps)
Meeting Structure: Meetings will be done via zoom and will occur on Mondays from 7:00 to 8:30 and on one Sunday a month. Each meeting will be 1 ½ hours long. You do not need to attend each meeting, but you are encouraged to do so.
Each meeting will have a guest speaker (for 15 minutes) and then an opportunity for students to work with guided focus on the tasks that need to be completed. During the guided focus, students will have the chance to ask questions through the chat feature.
After each meeting, the questions from the chat feature will be collected to create a FAQ that will be published to the website above.
Zoom Etiquette: All zoom meetings are recorded. While students are technically not in school, it is expected that students exhibit exemplary behavior. Students can be removed from the zoom if they are acting inappropriately. Students are also expected to be dressed appropriately. Students should ask questions through the chat feature and stay muted for the majority of the meeting.
Also, please sign up for text reminders by sending this message @citrus2021 to this phone number: 81010. Communication will be primarily through texts, which will give you convenient reminders of due dates and codes to sign into zoom sessions.
During each meeting session, there will be a random “drawing” for four $25 gift cards, courtesy of CCCCC and the Education Foundation.
